Here’s a lovely example of a Glass Garden Room Veranda, installed by one of our friends in The Milwood Group Network. If you’re based in Swadlincote, South Derbyshire, and looking for a Canopy, Pergola or Gazebo, please get in touch. As you can see, from this example, it also includes additional side glass infills to create additional protection from the wind.
This installation uses a “Simplicity 6” roof with a projection of 3m. The front posts are 70×70 square, which allowed us to install a set of sliding doors in a central location within the structure.
We also added two fixed uPVC windows to the front edges and the sides are cost-effective, uPVC windows made in two frames each & coupled beside the opening sashes.
The 70mm square posts match the 70mm window frames nicely and include a secret fix in the glazing channel, so the Garden Room installation is the perfect compliment.
The glass room solution gives a modern, clean appearance at a cost way below that of a conservatory.
In the majority of glass room cases, we install directly on top of existing patios burying the front posts in concrete, trimming and re-laying any patio slabs as required. We also use a cloaking trim to the front of the glass room giving a clean and neat finish.
For fully closed in glass/garden rooms, we advise our clients to install a subfloor after we have left the site to prevent ground moisture. This is usually made from damp proofing membrane, polystyrene insulation boards and water-resistant laminate flooring to suit.

A Glass Room Adds Style
As you can see from the images above, the Glass Room adds style both inside and out and you will notice the space in which this Glass Room was installed is not especially large, but because the sides and roof are made of Glass, with slim profile aluminium frames, it does not seem as though space has been taken up by the Glass Room, so it’s the ideal solution for this setting.
The owner of this property can use their stone Patio when the Sun is shining and step inside their Glass Room if it starts to get chilly, windy or if it starts raining and still feels as though they are outside enjoying their garden.
The extra lighting that has been installed also makes the space more usable when the sun goes down, so all in all a fantastic investment for anyone who loves their garden and spending more time outside.
